Blackout Shades & Blackout Curtains

Welcome!

If you are trying to find a supplier for room darkening shades or blackout shades and blackout curtains, you have come to the right place.  Right here you will find some some valuable tips and information along with a good list of suppliers that will give you the best deals!  I personally have searched many hours to round up a wide choice of manufacturers and sources that will help you with your purchase.

My own search for black out shades and black out curtains came about because I had moved into a new apartment and the morning sun would wake us up before the alarm went off! In addition, the sun would get the room too hot.

There are a few things to be aware of when purchasing, in addition to the lowest price. Make sure you understand the length and especially the width of the fabric you are buying. Find out exactly how many panels are in the package you are buying. There are some misleading ways in which the manufacturers sometimes label the merchandise.  You could be in for an unpleasant surprise unless you double check what you are buying. Any of the retailers listed here will be glad to confirm your dimensions and that you are buying the right product.

Another thing to be aware of is the weight of the fabric. This varies and the heavier weight fabric, although more expensive is often worth purchasing as it does a better job in keeping the light out and the heat from either coming into the room in the summer or leaving it in the winter. This will save you money in the long run because of reduced air conditioning and heating costs.

The fabric used in the construction of shades or curtains is quite unique.   Sometimes the so-called opaque material still lets some light through. This means that your room will not be able to get dark enough.

In the better quality blackout shade it usually consists of a truly and completely opaque layer of  flexible material or coating that is bonded to a high quality fabric backing. Make sure to insist on a completely light blocking fabric when you are buying your shades or curtains.

The fewer fabric panels you need, the better you will find the sunlight keeps out of your room. With that said, try to find the widest panels. It may require checking a few of the suppliers and comparing these details.

I shopped both online and locally drove around to fabric shops when I needed to buy my own Black out shades. The online suppliers saved me close to $70 for one room!

In addition to saving money by ordering online,  I was able to quickly compare merchants offers by visiting  a few of their websites. It is also a fact that you will usually find a better quality product than is available locally without having to do a time consuming special order.

Be sure to always compare the online merchants prices in order to get the best deal for your particular need.
